The services offered under Energy Auditing include surveys of buildings, industrial processes, utility systems and equipment.  The scope includes identification of improvement opportunities and presentation of results

Where opportunities offer high potential savings and are considered priorities R-Qubed will undertake detailed feasibility studies, develop full project specifications, identify suitable contractors and build the project budget and will manage the tendering exercise.

Energy Auditing

Whether the scope is the whole site, a specific manufacturing process or a supporting utility system the process we follow for energy auditing is the same.  We begin by analysing the process to understand the energy flows and then based on our knowledge, experience and skills start the process of:  
  • Project Identification - Identification of the long list of projects ideas to improve efficiency or reduce baseloads from observation and/or measurement of the site, process or system. 
  • Project Sifting - Identification of project budget costs and estimated benefits to enable prioritisation of the opportunities.  Regular liaison with the client to discuss and agree opportunities to present in the final report. In prioritising the opportunities we will be transparent regarding any assumptions made.
  • Reporting - Presentation of the audit results in a report and discussion of the outcome of the audit with the client.  The structure and level of detail of the reporting will be agreed a-priori with the client.

Project Engineering

Taking the project opportunity and developing it into a fully implementable project with known costs, benefits and contractors will involve:
  • Project Validation - Validation of any assumptions made, specific project measurement to update the savings estimates, development of the measurement and verification plan.
  • Project Specifications - Drafting of detailed project specifications and associated tender documents.  Identification of competent contractors and liaison with them to ensure that the their propoosals will be of the highest quality and meet the requirements.
  • Building the business case - Development of the full cost benefit analysis and detailed project budget including risk management and contingency planning
  • Implementation planning - Development of the project plan from knowledge of the lead times of key equipment and the downtime schedule of the process to work on. Drafting of the health and safety plan and obtaining any permits required.
